The “No Rescue Plan” makes excellent use of natural-and-logical consequences and teaches children to be focused and organized by making a conscious and deliberate choice to avoid enabling. this is right out of the old Parent Effectiveness Training playbook, but I am pleased to see it circulate once again.
The No Rescue Plan recognizes that parental figures, often with the best intentions, are enablers, and the child avoids the sometimes painful experience of having left the book report or the cello at home and being embarrassed at school. Children need the reality rub-in and the teaching opportunity that these lapses provide.
Chesapeake Coaching can help disrupt enabling and assist with the development and implementation of a No Rescue Plan.
